Soul Sisters Sunday

IMG_6922 We got up this morning and I went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather.  I sat on the wrap around porch and noticed this guy across the street feeding seagulls from his balcony.

P1080053 When I went back inside, Mary & Karri were having a crazy tickle fest.  Mary is so scrappy and even though Karri is a lot taller than her, Mary had her pinned.  We were all laughing at them.  We hooked up my laptop to the TV and watched the first 2 episodes of Season 3 of Downton Abbey.  We had sticky buns for breakfast (it was sooooo goood) and now we’re all caught up w/ Downton Abbey.

IMG_6932 After that, we got in our swimsuits and went outside to enjoy the beach for one last time before we had to go.  We saw these posts and decided we had to do the Karate Kid crane pose on them for fun.

IMG_6948 Mary was running up and down the beach doing these bell kicks.  It reminds me of the ending shot of Newsies.

IMG_6951 We even got a chorus line of the Rocketts going.

IMG_6961 You can’t really tell in this picture, but the waves were big today.  Only Mary & Karri & I got in the water b/c it was windy and cold.  We tried riding the waves and after a few minutes we all looked around and realized we had drifted way down the beach from where we started.  It was SO HARD to walk against the undercurrent and get back to where the other girls were on the beach.  We talked about all of the spiritual object lessons we could use w/ that experience.

IMG_6976 I told Karri to stand on the boggie board I took out into the water.  It love how it looks like she’s surfing.

IMG_6981 The sand pathway on the far right is where we would walk to the beach.  We would walk between those poles, and I love the pretty greenery w/ the sky and peek of the water in the background.

IMG_6982-001  This is the cute house we stayed in.  It was perfect for our needs.  Once we got back from the beach we all got cleaned up, ate lunch, and packed up all our stuff and loaded the Suburban.

IMG_6984 We’re so glad the lady that we were renting from let us stay later in the day.  We were supposed to be out by 11:00 am, but we didn’t leave until 2:00.  I can’t even begin to describe how incredible this weekend was.  I’m so sad that it’s already over and that we have to go back to reality.  I will be eternally bonded to these ladies.

IMG_6985 I drove the whole way down, and the whole way back.  We were lucky b/c we never hit bad traffic, and we had safety the whole time.

IMG_6987 The ladies in the back watched the old 5 hour version of Pride & Prejudice on the way home.  Even though I couldn’t see it, it was fun to listen to it and it helped the time pass by faster.

IMG_6989 This self portrait of Karri & Melanie makes me laugh so hard.  That was what was so fun about this weekend…we all can be serious and spiritual when we need to, but we also know how to cut loose and be silly & crazy.

IMG_6993 We just HAD to stop at Bucees on the way home to get some fudge & a ham sandwich.  It was PACKED!  I like how they have touch computer screens where you can place your order.  It makes getting your food so streamlined.  After we got our food, we went to get gas and each stall had someone pumping gas and someone waiting.  We finally got in line and moved up to a white car that was at the pump.  We realized no one was in the car.  They had pumped gas and gone in to shop!  We waited and waited and waited, and no one ever came out.  We finally went around that car b/c the stall in front of us opened up.  The lady that owned the white car finally came out while Christine was pumping gas.  Christine said something to her about how we had waited so long and the lady said, “Get over it!”  RUDE!  We saw lots of stalls like that were people would pump gas and then just go inside.  Pump your gas and then go park your car somewhere else to go inside b/c it was so busy.  I don’t get how people could be so inconsiderate.

P1080061 We finally got home at 7:30 and unpacked the car and got one final picture before going our separate ways.  I don’t have words adequate enough to describe what this weekend meant to me.  We really have never spent a lot of time together, just a few hours once a week.  It can be really different when you spend whole days together.  We all geld together so well and got closer.  It couldn’t have gone better.  We laughed, we cried, we talked, we pampered ourselves, and we fortified our eternal friendships.

P1080062I’m so thankful to Mom & Dad for taking such good care of my Autumn Bottom for me.  Some of the ladies had a hard time relaxing on vacation b/c they had so much on their minds about work and home.   I didn’t have to worry once how Autumn was doing.  I brought her home one shell from the beach and this pink rock candy from Bucees.  She looked so cute in her lady bug dress and the way Mom did a side braid.  Now it’s back to the real world, which is going to be hard.  This weekend is one that will never be forgotten.
