West, TX & Wicked

It was so sad to wake up this morning and hear the news of the explosion last night in West, TX.  We drive past that city every time we go down to visit Lexie & her family in Austin.  We usually stop and get kolaches at the Czech Bakery there right off the highway!  This website is where this picture came from, and there are some other pictures of the devastation there.  It’s so sad that the first responders are the ones that probably were killed or injured the worst b/c they were there fighting the initial blaze.  It’s crazy that the explosion registered as a 2.1 magnitude earthquake!!!

Autumn got to go home from school w/ Ben’s family today.  She was invited over to their house to Lucy’s birthday party.  Then after the party, she went w/ them back to the school for the Kindergarten program.  Dad was able to go and watch for a while b/c he was on backup, but hadn’t been called in yet.  After the program, Ben’s family took Autumn over to Kenzie’s house so Kenzie could babysit her and then Autumn got to sleep over there.

The reason I wasn’t w/ Autumn at the birthday party or Kindergarten program was b/c I went w/ Mom, Sis. Mannewitz, Ashley, Melanie, Jessie, Kylie, Karri & Mary to see Wicked!  We bought the tickets a few months ago for a good price.  We were only 2 rows from the very back in the nosebleed section, but it was still an AWESOME show.  I had never seen it before, and I didn’t want to get my hopes up too high, b/c everyone RAVES about it and I didn’t want to be disappointed.  But, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it immensely.  The music was great, the costumes were cool, and the singing & acting were fabulous.  The only down side was that we were so far back we couldn’t see their facial expressions.  It was such a FUN night out w/ a great group of ladies that I love!
