Tonight for our Young Women’s activity, we went to a women’s shelter to babysit their children while they were in counseling. We had to be there at 5:30, so I just went to the location straight from work and met the other leaders & girls there. We were told there could be up to 19 kids, so we weren’t sure what to expect. We ended up having about 8 kids and they were SO STINKIN’ CUTE!
The boys just wanted to watch a movie, so they put one on. Sis. Lee came up w/ a GREAT idea to get them to interact w/ us instead of watching TV. She made some paper airplanes and we had contests to see if they could get the paper airplanes to fly the farthest, or go through a bridge we made out of Legos, etc. It was a LOT of fun! This was a picture I saw there, and thought it was great.
Towards the end of our time there, one of the people that run the counseling came and asked if I could help her. She gave me some slips of paper that had things circled on it like shampoo, body wash, diapers, etc. The ladies could circle what they needed and I would fill a plastic sack w/ those things from the pantry/stock, and then they would take them home at the end of the night. I’m so glad we got to do an activity where we were helping someone and giving service. I left there feeling so happy.
I wanted to show y’all an update on my Chia Person that I made last week. This is how tall the grass “hair” is in just week. It’s weird that the grass has grown so much in just a week, but that it’s just on the one side. Autumn & I love coming to check on it’s progress every night.
