Tonight after dinner, Autumn & I went swimming. Rufio came out and sat near the pool in a chair and talked to us and watched us swim. Autumn wanted to go get a hula hoop that was over by Papa & Mimi’s door, but she would FREAK OUT & cry whenever she went over there b/c she said there was a “scary orange bug” over there. When Papa got home, he went to investigate what the bug was, and it turns out it was a cicada shell.
He had found a dead cicada a few days ago & had it sitting on the table. So, he talked Autumn into holding them to help her get over her fear of the bugs. She used to not be so scared, but has become such a prissy girl lately. I love this picture b/c of their expressions. Papa is explaining to her that it’s not scary to hold the bugs & they’re not going to hurt her. She’s got her tongue out in concentration trying to be brave and not freak out.
Here’s a close of up of what she was holding. That cicada shell sure looks creepy & like it’s some sort of alien from another planet. She did great & held them long enough for me to snap a few pictures, and then she was DONE!
We said our good byes and came home so I could give her a shower. Then once she was asleep I did a few loads of laundry and called it a night.
