Since it’s the anniversary of the horrible and tragic events of 9/11, I wanted to post this picture that I saw floating around on Facebook. I also saw this post that really hit home:
Honor those we lost on 9/11 by being the people we were on 9/12.
Tonight for our Young Women’s activity we had Young Women in Excellence. At the beginning of the year for New Beginnings the theme was “keys to help us open doors to letting the Savior into our lives.” So, for YWIE we shared what treasures those keys have unlocked in us. Each girl sat at a table w/ the value she focused on this year. They wrote out a little snippet of what they had done and it was printed on a piece of paper that was rolled up and put into the colored sand jar in the middle. The parents spent about 6 minutes at each table and read the piece of paper and guessed which girl it went to. When they guessed it right, that girl would talk for just a minute about what she had done.
I talked about how I’ve been making an effort to go to the temple more often and how that has unlocked the value of Good Works in me b/c I’m doing saving ordinances & work for people that can’t do it for themselves, which is the ultimate way to do good work.
Since it was a treasure box theme, these were some of the treats they had. I thought it was so cute & creative. Mom & Dad picked Autumn up from cheerleading practice for me and brought her home and put her to bed. I didn’t get home until 9:00 b/c I stayed and helped clean up after the activity was over. I don’t know what I would do w/out them.
