Baptism, Cheerleading, & BYU Football

P1100654Autumn & I were busy little bees this morning.  We got up at 7:30, got dressed, and went and got the oil and air filter changed in the car.  Then we went next door and vacuumed out the car and took it through the car wash b/c it was filthy!  Then we went over to Mom & Dad’s house and had Mom’s AH-MAY-ZING breakfast sandwiches for breakfast.  We loaded up the cars and hit the road.

We got to the church for Shane’s baptism w/ 15 minutes to spare!  That’s pretty good since we had to drive through Ft. Worth and there was a TCU game there today.  It was a very nice baptismal service, and I’m glad Autumn got to see it so she can start getting excited about being baptized when she turns 8.

There was a missionary there that is from Micronesia, so it was neat to talk to him about living in Majuro for a few months.  He had a really cool accent, too.

IMG_1225 After the baptismal service, we went over to Aunt Sandy & Uncle Robert’s for lunch.  Aunt Sandy had a super nice spread of chips, all the fixin’s for sandwiches, potato salad, a fruit tray w/ super yummy fruit dip, and homemade cream puffs for dessert.  It was fun to sit and eat and socialize w/ the family.  Autumn & I had to leave at 1:00 b/c we had to be back for her 4:00 cheerleading game.

P1100659 We stopped to get gas ($3.35 a gallon) and saw this cactus (or is it cacti) w/ a ton of purple bulbs on it.  I wonder if those will bloom???  It was really pretty.

IMG_1229 We got home, changed clothes, went to Mom & Dad’s to get their camping chairs, and then went over to the football field for the game.  We got there and Autumn’s coach came over to the car and said to just stay in the air conditioned car b/c a previous game had gone into double overtime and it would be at least 20 minutes before we would get to play!  Isn’t my little Autumn Bottom such a cute cheerleader?

IMG_0152 I love it that we hold up signs each game for our football players to run through.  They ripped the sign last week at their first game, but this one actually stayed in tact.

IMG_0156 This football Mom is so smart!  She got a new pest control pump spray thing and filled it w/ water and during breaks, she goes around and sprays the boys (and sometimes the cheerleaders) to help keep them cooled off.  Brilliant!

IMG_0164 Autumn was so happy that Papa was able to make it to her game today.  This was after they had done their half time cheer where they introduce themselves.

IMG_0167 This picture just MELTS MY MAMA HEART!!!  I love you too, my Cheerleader Girl!

IMG_0170 Dad & I had a pretty nice set up.  It was *only* 99 degrees today (better than last week when it was 105), we were in the shade, there was a light breeze, and I brought a bottle of ice water.  Dad even had the camping chair that has a head rest and a place to prop up your feet.  I came much better prepared this week.

IMG_0178 Autumn can’t do handstands or cartwheels like some of the other girls, but she can do a good kick.  She’s been practicing her handstand and is getting better.

IMG_0179 This is cute Ella that’s on Autumn’s team and we just love her!  Autumn & Ella are cute friends.

IMG_1236 After her game, we went over to Mom & Dad’s and had dinner and then left at 7:30 so we could run by the store to get a few a treat for my Young Women’s lesson tomorrow.  I got her to bed and then sat and watched the BYU game.  That storm that rolled through before the game started was CRAZY!  That was so cool that they showed it in time lapse.  I’m glad it finally blew through so they could play the game.

P1100670 I am SO GLAD we beat Texas (40 to 21)!  Every time we scored, I would sing along with the Fight Song b/c I still remember all the words.  I have a BYU magnet on the back of my car, and they guys at work razz me about it, so I’m glad I can brag about BYU whooping on Texas at work on Monday.  GO COUGARS!!!

Wasn't that game so much better than last week? I kept asking my husband, is that really the same team? Is that really the same quarterback? I wake my kids up in the morning with the fight song :) Rise and shine the cougars are out. . . they love it :)
