General Relief Society Meeting

IMG_1305 I found this book sitting in a pile of books Mom was going to donate to Goodwill, so I asked her if I could take it to read.  I haven’t read a good book in a long time, and this was a GOOD book!  Of course it’s fictional, but it made me think of the story of Abraham & Sarah in the Bible so differently (Genesis 11:29 – 17:15).  It helped me to see them as real people and imagine how hard it must have been for both of them.  I heard there are 2 more books about different women from this author & can’t wait to read them.  I stayed up until 1:30 am reading it.

IMG_0297 We were told earlier this week that our game was being moved to a stadium since it was supposed to rain today.  So instead of a 1:00 pm game, we had a 9:00 am game.  I thought that since it was being moved to a stadium it would be inside.  But it just meant that the field was turf instead of grass.  Luckily it never rained on us, but it was so incredibly HUMID!!!  Autumn liked this field b/c it wasn’t boring (meaning that it had painted lines on it).  The football players got a little too excited while running through the sign, b/c they tripped over each other.

IMG_0301 We have not won a game yet, and the team we were playing today are undefeated.  I honestly don’t even watch the game very much.  I’m too busy watching the cheerleaders.  Our cheerleaders challenged theirs to a “we’ve got spirit, yes we do” chant.  They’re so cute at this age all lined up in their uniforms.

IMG_0306 We actually got to sit in real bleachers for this game instead of in our camping chairs.  I think the parent cheering section for the cheerleaders is way bigger than the parent cheering section for the football players.  LOL!

IMG_0311 This is Emily and she’s on the other team, but she & Autumn know each other from daycare.  So fun!

IMG_1306 After the game we went over to Mom & Dad’s house to eat lunch.  Autumn wanted to snuggle in Papa & Mimi’s bed and watch a movie.  We watched Ratatouille.  It’s such a cute movie!

IMG_1308 Emma dog even got in on the snuggle fest.

IMG_1309 At 4:30 we went over to Hayley’s house so she could help Autumn w/ cheer stuff.  She’s one of the Young Women in our ward and she used to do cheer up until last year.  While they were upstairs working on cheer stuff, I helped her Mom make this yummy soup for the Relief Society broadcast tonight.  The RS had bought all the ingredients and brought them over and she just had to make it.  It made a TON of soup (12 c of water???) and so we had to split it into 2 pots.

IMG_1311I took Autumn over to Mom & Dad’s house so they could watch her for me while I went to the General Relief Society Broadcast.  They had asked some of us to bring a centerpiece to decorate the tables & to be a “host” of that table by introducing everyone and getting them to talk to each other and keep the conversation going.  Not enough women came, so I left my table and went and sat at another table.

This was a little card that was on each table, which I really liked.  After we ate, it was time for the broadcast.  It was great and a lot of good things were said.  The main focus was about the covenants we make and how they empower us and help us to return to live w/ our Heavenly Father.

I LOVE what Pres. Monson said:

“My dear sisters, your Heavenly Father loves you—each of you. That love never changes. It is not influenced by your appearance, by your possessions, or by the amount of money you have in your bank account. It is not changed by your talents and abilities. It is simply there. It is there for you when you are sad or happy, discouraged or hopeful. God’s love is there for you whether or not you feel you deserve love. It is simply always there.

As we seek our Heavenly Father through fervent, sincere prayer and earnest, dedicated scripture study, our testimonies will become strong and deeply rooted. We will know of God’s love for us. We will understand that we do not ever walk alone. I promise you that you will one day stand aside and look at your difficult times, and you will realize that He was always there beside you.
