Tonight after school was a DOOZY! Autumn had major melt downs back to back. We got to Mom & Dad’s house & she started crying about how hard her day at school was. She was upset b/c they had to use the computer and she didn’t know which website to go to and was afraid she was going to break something or go to the wrong place. She had a good cry about it, which I personally think is so healing. She snuggled w/ me while I let her just cry it out, which I loved.
Then we had dinner & it was time to get ready for cheer practice. She went to put on her practice outfit, but it wasn’t in her cheer bucket. That was the beginning of major melt down #2. I told her she could just wear her school outfit that she had on, or she could wear her cheer uniform. She cried and cried about how the girls were going to make fun of her. I tried to assure her that no one would care, but she wasn’t hearing any of it. I finally told her we had to leave and she had to make a choice. She finally decided on the cheer uniform but not w/out some major meanness on her part. I got the full brunt of it all the way to practice, too.
Mom said she should stay home & take a nap b/c she was obviously tired, and I agree that she was tired. But, when we were in the bathroom she said between sobs, “I can’t go to practice b/c I’ve had too many meltdowns.” That to me meant that she knew she was working the system, so I made the decision to be the tough but loving Mom & make her go anyways. Tough love is TOUGH!
Tonight for our combined YW activity we did this “Integrity Challenge.” This group of girls were so hyper & pulled these funny/silly faces on purpose.
This group was very diligent & took the challenge really seriously and completed each of the steps first among the other groups.
This group took longer, but had a very colorful posterboard. It was fun seeing them all work together.
This group was off in the corner by themselves but worked hard to get it done. It was fun to walk around and see all the different things that each group came up w/ and all the cool types of handwriting each girl had. At the end, each group came up and shared w/ us what they had written. We had 4 leaders at the back who acted as judges and they awarded points. It all came down to 5 points difference. Then for refreshments we had cookies. It was a great activity & the girls were able to write it off as an Integrity Personal Progress Experiences.
By the end of the activity, everyone was in a super silly mood & decided to make a “seat train.” Poor Finley (the girl sitting in the chair) kept yelling for me to hurry up and take the picture b/c everyone was so heavy! LOL! We have a great group of girls and I’m so glad I get to work w/ them.
I got home around 8:40 and Mom had made Autumn’s bed (I washed her sheets yesterday) & had Autumn already sleep. I don’t know what I would do w/out her & Dad. We all sat & talked for a while & then they had to go home & go to bed since they have the temple in the morning. I stayed up & worked on editing pics and then I borrowed this old school Game Boy from Nick & played these 2 old school games. It was like taking a trip down memory lane! SO FUN!
