Random Mannequin, 2 Accidents & The Temple

P1100785This morning as we were walking out the door, Autumn grabbed the mini album that I had done for her a few weeks back.  I asked her what she was going to do w/ it and she said she just wanted to look at it while I drove her to school.  That made me such a happy Project Lifer & Mama!

IMG_1273 Work was SO SLOW today!  5:00 couldn’t get here fast enough.  I went & dropped off a FedEx package for work and then stopped & got gas b/c it was down to $3.15!  I’m loving this downward trend & hope it keeps going so it’s below $3 a gallon.

IMG_1274 Then, I treated myself to dinner at Chipotle b/c I had a hankerin’ for it.  I always get the same thing, and it’s always so good!

IMG_1275 After I ate, I had about an hour to kill, so I walked next door to Tom Thumb.  I turned the corner & saw this creepy mannequin in her pajamas standing in the middle of all these bottles of wine.  RANDOM & WEIRD!!!

They didn’t have what I was looking for (although they did have Beanie Babies for sale…I didn’t know they even made those things anymore), plus all their prices were way higher than what I’m used to (WalMart) for the same items.  Anyways, I was stopped at a red light waiting for it to turn green when all of a sudden, a pickup truck went flying past me through the red light and slammed right into the front driver’s side of another car! When the light turned green, I hurried and pulled back into the parking lot and ran over to see if they were OK and to see if they needed me to stay and give a report to the police as an eyewitness.  But, there had been other people standing at a Starbuck’s across the intersection that had gotten there faster and had seen the whole thing.  They said they would stay & give their report of what happened.  Luckily, no one was hurt, and both cars were still driveable, but it still was scary & shook me up!

IMG_1277After all that craziness, I was ready to get to the temple and feel peaceful.  Then I saw this…a big huge moving truck was trying to pull onto the very narrow road & got stuck!  I sat there & watched them for 30 minutes as they tried to get it unstuck.  I felt SO BAD for those guys b/c I’m sure they were exhausted from packing up & loading a truck all day & now they had to expend more time & energy on getting it unstuck.  I wished there were something I could have done to help.

I guess the one positive thing about it was that since they were blocking the road, cars had to be diverted into the temple parking lot so they could go around and go out the other exit.  So, people who would usually have just driven past the temple w/out a second thought now got a chance to see how beautiful it is as they drove through the parking lot.

IMG_1278I was SO GRATEFUL that I made it to the temple safely and that I got to experience a feeling of complete peace when I walked in the doors.  I was able to leave the world & all its cares behind for a few hours as I did service for others.  It was the Single Adult session, but all the single guys were in their 50’s or older.  UGH!  I don’t know how they got the big semi unstuck, but it was gone by the time I left the temple at 9:30.

I’m so thankful to Mom for picking up Autumn for me & putting her to bed so I could go to the temple.  I’m so blessed!  Plus, when I came out of the temple it was raining, and we need the rain so badly.  Blessings all around tonight!
