All that flying back and forth from the North Pole must be making Rosy Posy's asthma flare up, b/c we found her wearing Autumn's breathing treatment mask this morning. Silly Rosy Posy!
We basically spent the WHOLE DAY watching TV or doing artwork. We had yellow crook neck squash & meatloaf for lunch before Nick had to leave for work. The roads are still super icy, and neither Nick or I want to drive on them. Curt offered to take Nick to work and pick him up, which is a HUGE blessing! Poor Nick had a really hard time getting up the hill in the back yard to go over to Curt’s. It took him a good 10 minutes to make it up the hill b/c it was so icy and he kept sliding backwards. Autumn & I noticed a family of 6 or 7 squirrels that were playing tag in the back yard & on our patio. You can see one of the squirrels running away between the chair and the bush, and then the other squirrel chasing him.
Here’s an action shot I got of the squirrel. We watched them for about 15 minutes, and it was fun to see them scampering all around. We also saw a lot of birds and a red cardinal and bluejay feeding at the bird feeders in the backyard.
Autumn made this super cute Lego scene for me today. We had a few rough patches today. She would get mad at me for no reason, and when I would ask her what was wrong she wouldn’t talk to me. She would just growl and then try to attack me. I have no idea what was going on w/ her, but I did not like it one little bit!!! I wonder if it’s just b/c she’s going stir crazy and we’re out of our normal routine, b/c we’ve been iced in for 3 days. I made Chicken & Wild Rice Casserole for dinner, gave Autumn a bath, and got her to bed by 8:00.
The weather is so bad that they postponed the nativity until next week, church is cancelled for tomorrow, and Brenner was supposed to come stay w/ us for a few days but her flight got cancelled, rescheduled, and the roads are too scary to drive to the airport. Too bad it couldn’t have gotten above freezing today to melt some of the ice. Oh, well … I’m just thankful to have shelter and food and electricity and heat.
