Rosy Posy had fun doing the Barbies’ hair after she got back from the North Pole.
We had homemade bacon, egg & cheese sandwiches for breakfast and then watched Father of the Bride on TV. Autumn & I were both going stir crazy, so we went outside for a little bit. We made sure to stay away from any trees, b/c the ice was starting to melt a little bit and we kept hearing chunks of ice falling out of the trees. Autumn had fun kicking up the ice on the grass and then putting it into a pile. She wanted to make snowballs to throw so badly, but it wasn’t snow … it was ice.
Nick & Autumn & I decided to brave the roads to drive home and get more clothes since the roads are supposed to freeze tonight. The roads weren’t too bad if we stayed in the grooves where other cars had driven. We got home and found something really bad, but it could have been so much worse. We have this big beautiful Bradford pear tree in our front yard, and I took this picture on Thursday before the ice storm hit b/c I thought the vibrant fall colors were so pretty.
This is what that same Bradford pear tree looks like today!!! 2/3’s of the tree is now laying in our driveway!!! It’s hard to tell just how big it is in this pic, but you can see it’s almost as tall as Nick and he’s 6’2”!!! I’m thankful that my car wasn’t parked in the garage (it’s over at Mom & Dad’s) b/c I wouldn’t be able to get out due to the tree completely blocking the driveway.
It broke into 3 different pieces and I’m just so incredibly thankful that it missed our neighbor’s house by less than a foot!!! I thought Nick & I could pull the branches out of the way, but they are so incredibly heavy that we couldn’t even budge them! I don’t know if we can save the tree or if it will have to be cut down???
We made the trek back to Mom & Dad’s house and watched part of “The Bible” movie since church was cancelled today. I figured the best Christmas movie to watch would be one that’s actually about Christ’s life.
We had grilled cheese sandwiches & tomato soup for dinner, and then Autumn & I made Funfetti cupcakes before the First Presidency Christmas Devotional. It was good to watch it w/ Autumn & Nick, especially since we didn’t have church today. Hopefully the temp will be high enough tomorrow to melt more ice off the roads. We’re ready to get back to our normal schedule of work and school.
