We had a good New Year’s Eve evening. After dinner we let the kids run around & be noisy to burn off some energy. The living room was a huge mess w/ toys & blankets & pillows everywhere. We had a 10 minute pick up & then I laid out a blanket for our movie night. They got their pillows & blankets & we put in Ice Age: Continental Drift. I popped some popcorn & it was nice to have some peace & quiet for 90 minutes.
After the movie, we got our “pop-its” and went outside to celebrate.
It was a little chilly outside (40 degrees), but that didn’t bother the kids at all. They had A BLAST playing tag & running around & throwing the pop-its at each other’s feet. I kept asking them if they were ready to go in, but they kept saying no. We were out there for about an hour, but I didn’t mind b/c they were running & wearing themselves out.
When I FINALLY called it quits & made them come inside it was 7:40. We made some “fancy drinks”, which consisted of Sprite & grenadine. We counted down from 10 to 1, yelled “Happy New Year”, and clinked our glasses. Then we put the kids to bed & had a quiet house by 8:00 pm. LOVE IT!
We went all out to have a super amazing & fancy snack for our last food of 2013. Yay for mac & cheese. LOL!
For the past few years we’ve been taking a picture of Andrew passed out w/ the Martinelli’s bottle. I’m glad we could continue the tradition this year.
I snuck in & got one of Autumn, too.
We usually ring in the New Year at 11:00 central time & just count down w/ the ball drop in NYC. But, this year we actually stayed up until midnight central time.
We did watch the ball drop in NYC, though. I can’t imagine standing there for hours and hours on end w/ all those crowds. What do people do if they need to use the restroom?
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014 from Autumn & me!!!
