For dinner tonight Autumn & I went to Subway & shared our usual foot long sandwich. I love it when we can just sit and talk w/out distractions.
After that we ran home to get some treats & plates and then we went over to Liz & Liberty’s. We put together some treat plates & then went around and dropped them off. We made this plate of half eaten cookies & real coal for Steve as a joke. It was SO FUNNY when we gave it to him.
I have to share this crazy story. We were lost in a neighborhood & I had just turned a corner and was starting down the street when a huge black lab came out from between the shadows of 2 cars. I slammed on my brakes & honked my horn in hopes of getting it to stop. I was so sure we were going to hit it & I was bracing myself to feel a thud. Luckily, we didn’t hit the dog. Liz & I screamed at the same time and then just sat there hyperventilating when we realized we hadn’t hit it. All of a sudden there was this woman yelling at me through my car window and saying, “you need to slow down!!!” I was still in shock, which was good so I didn’t say something I would regret. I said, “I was only going 24 mph.” She yelled, “no you weren’t, you were speeding through here!” There’s no way I could have been speeding b/c we had just turned the corner. She had 4 other big dogs w/ her and none of them were on leashes! The whole thing was so loud that the people on either side of the street came out of their homes to see what was going on.
Liz & I were shook up for a while and were talking about how rude that woman was when she was clearly at fault. All of sudden from the back seat I heard Autumn say, “Mom, you totally should have let me handle that!” That completely broke the tension & we all got a really good laugh out of it and went about delivering our Christmas treats. I’m just thankful that it all ended well and that the dog wasn’t hurt!!!
