We went over to Mom & Dad’s for dinner tonight, and left earlier than usual. We were going to go grocery shopping, but I was just so tired from the early morning yesterday & driving for 7 hours that I decided to do it another night. So, we came home & had a short Family Home Evening. I’ve noticed lately when Autumn is saying her prayers she’ll say, “We’re thankful for Heavenly Father and that He sent His Son.” She’s talking ABOUT Him in 3rd person, which is weird since she’s praying TO Him. So, tonight we talked about the Joseph Smith story & I showed her this picture & let her know that when she is praying she is talking to Heavenly Father. We talked about using good prayer language like “Thee, Thou, Thy, & Thine” instead of “you, your, yours”, etc. I know it will take some practice, but we’ll keep working at it.
I was laughing so hard tonight when she read this book to me. It’s a super cute story. When we got to the part about the encyclopedias, Autumn stopped and asked me, “Mom, what is an encyclopedia?” I told her, “it’s like Google, but in book form.” LOL! It’s so weird that I’m part of an “old generation” that had things like encyclopedias & VHS tapes, etc. that Autumn will only know about as part of history!
We had mint Oreos for our FHE treat, and then we watched a little Disney Channel while she snuggled up on the floor & worked on her Rainbow Loom before bedtime. This picture makes me so happy b/c it’s such a great snapshot of her childhood. It shows her favorite Pillow Pet, her Barbies & doll house, her blanket she sleeps w/ each night, etc. I’m sure this will be a pic she’ll look back on as a grownup w/ fondness.
