Yay For Good Tex Mex

IMG_2658 Tonight we met Papa at the car repair shop, b/c the check engine light on his truck came on AGAIN (this is like the 3rd time in a few months).  Anyways, when we picked him up he said he would treat us to dinner.  We decided to try out a new Mexican restaurant in town that just opened.  This particular place has been about 4 different restaurants (steakhouse, Cajun, teppanyaki & now Mexican) over the past few years & it never does well.  The outside appeal is very bright & colorful, and look at how blue that sky is!!!

IMG_2659 Autumn was a big fan right away, b/c they have a special little door just for kids.

IMG_2661 I was a big fan as soon as the chips & salsa came out b/c they give you 3 different types of dips for the chips.  My favorite was the habanera ranch.  It wasn’t too spicy, and was pretty close to the Cafe Rio dressing.  I got a big dinner platter & it was only $9.99, there was a lot of food, and it was really good!  The owner even came over & talked to us for about 20 minutes.  He’s a really nice guy and has owned this land & restaurant for 20 years.  Dad & I were wondering why in the world there was a painting on the wall of a woman w/ a major unibrow.  I posted this pic on Facebook & come to find out, it’s a portrait of Frida Kahlo, who I had never heard of.  She lived quite the life!!!

IMG_2662 Autumn liked going over to look at the tortilla machine.  It was kind of cool to stand there & watch them cook & then flip over when they moved down to the next level.  Papa took her over to a Mexican fortune teller guy in a box & got her fortune printed out.  LOL!  We will FOR SURE be coming back here again!

IMG_2665 We took Papa home & dropped him off, and we had to go look at they hyacinths that were growing on the back wall.  They are SO incredibly vibrant & fragrant.  It’s too bad that they don’t last longer.

IMG_2666We picked one stalk to take in the house so we could enjoy the smell & pretty colors.  I like it how they kind of look like starfish or exploding fireworks.
