Temple, Eyebrows, Northanger Abbey & Fireworks

IMG_3969 I got up early this morning and made it to the temple for the 7:30 session.  It was nice and stormy/cloudy this morning.  I had a good session, and I noticed that today (as is the case every once in a while) that the drive to the temple while listening to spiritual music was the most touching part.  Sometimes I’m deeply touched by something I see or hear or learn in the temple.  Other times it’s having my car filled w/ the Spirit while I drive to the temple.  Either way, it’s all good things and I’m thankful that I can go.

IMG_3973 I went straight over to Mom & Dad’s when I was done.  Everyone was outside “swimming in the rain, just swimming in the rain.”  I would have gotten in too, but they were all ready to get out since they had been swimming for a while.  Plus, the kids were getting cold b/c it was raining and was windy.

IMG_3981 I had a nail appointment at 11:00 & Lexie (and Adam) & Autumn came with me.  Yay for some fun girl time!

IMG_3985 While I got my nails done, Lexie & Autumn got their eyebrows waxed.  I know there will be some people who will be mad at me for having my 7 year old’s eyebrows waxed.  If you find yourself thinking I’m a bad Mom for doing that, please look in the upper left hand corner of the picture and notice all the dark hairs in the wax.  If you’re still mad at me, that’s ok … we can still be friends. :)

IMG_3999We came home and had lunch and relaxed.  The kids cleaned up the playroom & then set up their plastic chairs like this to watch The Lego Movie.  They were so cute w/ their pretend theater set up, so I made them some popcorn to make it feel authentic.

IMG_4004 While they were occupied watching their movie, Lexie & Mom & I watched Northanger Abbey while enjoying our dirty diet Cokes.  I had never seen it before, and it was good.  We borrowed a bunch of movies like this from a lady in Mom’s ward.

IMG_4008 Autumn & I finally left to come home around 9:20.  We stopped to get gas since I was down to a quarter of a tank and since tomorrow is Sunday.  I was just going to go home, but then I remembered that our town has a big patriotic celebration (90,000 people attended this year) the Saturday before the 4th of July.  So, we went to Sonic to get a half priced shake.  We went to our usual bank parking lot to watch the fireworks away from the crowds.  However, a subdivision has gone in since last year so our view was blocked.

We got in the car and drove down the road a ways and pulled over into a really big turn lane & just parked there w/ our emergency lights on to watch the amazing fireworks show.  They went for 25 minutes, and with about 5 minutes left, Autumn said she was tired and just wanted to go home.  So, we started driving home which just happened to be towards the fireworks.  As luck would have it, we pulled up to the intersection where we had to turn right as the finale was going off.  It was cool!  Autumn was sound asleep in the 6 minute drive home!  What a fun day.
