Family Stay-Cation Day 2 (The Sickies)

IMG_6101 Last night was ROUGH! Lexie texted me around 12:30 to let me know that Autumn kept waking up & crying out for me. So, I went next door and got her and brought her back to my room and put her in my bed w/ me. Autumn woke up about 2:30 and said that she thought she had wet the bed. Come to find out, she was sick to her stomach & actually had diarrhea & also started throwing up! The poor thing was so sick & just sat on the toilet while holding a garbage can in case she needed to throw up for about an hour. I sat on the edge of the tub and put a towel on my lap so she could lay her head down. We finally went back to sleep only to wake up a few hours later w/ her having diarrhea. I’m glad we brought 3 extra pairs of undies, b/c we used all of them!

As you can see by this picture, she felt a lot better once we finally got up for the day around 8:00. We went over to Lexie’s room & had some cereal & milk and then had a dance party. WOOT WOOT!

IMG_4091 We went down to the lobby for the “Wolf Walk” at 9:00. It was the only disappointing thing about the whole day. We thought they were going to take the kids on a tour around the hotel, teach them to howl like a wolf, and have the wolf character from last night there. Nope … a Great Wolf Lodge employee took them over to the window that looks out onto the water park, talked so quietly that  no one could hear her, and then walked them the 10 steps back to where they started. They sat on the floor & she showed them how to fold an origami thing and that was it. LAME! We were NOT impressed w/ her at all, and she had no energy or excitement.

IMG_4094 Mom & Dad said they wanted to get the kids wands to do the Magi Quest around the hotel. So, after the lame Wolf Walk we went downstairs where they picked out their wands, their magic names, and then got their wands activated. They were SO EXCITED, especially Jackson.

IMG_4099 We had to get a pic of Lexie’s cute family by the Great Wolf Lodge bear seat.

DSCN2553 We started off on the quests to find the hidden treasures around the hotel. It’s actually really cool (even though I was annoyed with it), and the kids loved it. They would point their wand at stuff & it would light up, make noise, play songs, or talk to them. As you can see from this picture, Autumn was starting to fade fast & was just going through the motions but not enjoying it at all. She was getting sick again.

IMG_6108 So, I let Nick have her wand to keep working on the quests w/ the boys while I took her back to the room, gave her some Motrin, and put her to bed. She slept for about an hour and then woke up and threw up all over the bed before I could get her a trash can! Luckily, the cleaning lady was a few doors down the hall so I took the soiled bedding to her and got some clean ones. I’m glad we had Mom & Dad buy her a pack of new undies while they were at Target this morning getting milk & stuff to make sandwiches. I feel so bad that she’s so sick, AND that she’s missing out on all the fun of GWL.

IMG_6107 After another few hours of sleep and some more medicine, she perked up and was ready to hit the water park. We all got in our swimsuits and went down to the first floor. Mom said that GWL is like Chuck E Cheese on steroids. They have a kid’s spa, a cupcake shop, an arcade, restaurants, etc. There really is something fun for kids (and adults) of all ages.

DSCN2575 Olivia LOVED being in the water & splashing around. It was like a huge bathtub for her and Adam. We swam & played for a few hours, and I even went down “The Tornado” slide w/ Dad, Nate, & Riannon. There are 4 people on a huge square raft & you go down this big slide w/ a huge drop and it puts you in this huge cone where you go back & forth up the sides of the cone. I was screaming like crazy, but it was so much fun.

IMG_6110 When I got done w/ that ride, Lexie came and got me & said Autumn was crying and was ready to go back to the room. I guess her medicine had worn off and she needed some more sleep. We went back to the room & she slept for a few more hours. Mom & Dad went and got us Greek gyros, salad, fries, & hummus for dinner. We ate dinner together in Lexie’s room. We tried to get a family picture, but this is the best we could get! LOL! Also, poor Andrew had started to throw up and was feeling crummy by this point, too!

DSCN2643 Even though Autumn was taking alternating Motrin & Tylenol every 4 hours, she still didn’t feel great. At one point while we were eating, she got a pillow and laid down on the floor. I love this picture of Olivia patting her head and checking to make sure she’s OK. Look at how long Autumn is in this picture! She needs to stop growing up so stinkin’ fast.

DSCN2641 While we were all together, Lexie brought out a gift she has been working on for over a month. She decided to make Mom & Dad an 18 month calendar w/ different pictures of our family to count down their mission starting in March. It was such a labor of love and she did such a great job. She also surprised us w/ a copy for her family, one for our household, and one for Nate’s family. Everyone had fun looking at the calendars & pointing out different pictures and talking about the memories of those pictures. It was the highlight of the vacation for me.

DSCN2667 We decided to get a few sibling/family pictures and everyone was a little bit too tired b/c we were so silly and were laughing at the dumbest things. This picture of us makes me so incredibly happy. The 4 original Johnson kids. We have such different personalities & you would probably never guess we are from the same family. We have our annoying moments & can sometimes only stand being around each other for short periods of time. But at the end of the day we love each other fiercely. I’m so glad we have each other.

DSCN2673 Then we had to get a picture of the original 6. I don’t know what we’re going to do when Mom & Dad are gone. I’m going to miss them terribly. They are the glue that hold us together. I’m thankful for them treating us all to this wonderful family vacation. I’m glad they’re mine and that I am theirs. How blessed I am to come from such an incredible family unit!

IMG_6105After dinner Autumn & I went back to our room so we could just relax in bed, snuggle, and watch some TV. Lexie got the kids to bed & then went out w/ Nick to do the Magi Quest. He ended up beating all the levels & got a badge. When we were flipping channels before going to bed, we found a channel that showed the top Magi for the day. Nick had the #2 spot for most points that day!  GO NICK!
