Whipped Cream Memories

For dinner tonight I decided to make crepes from this recipe (Blue Jeans Mama blog). She shares lots of great recipes, and this one was a big hit. It made a LOT of batter, so I just put what we didn’t use in the fridge so we can make more crepes tomorrow or the next day.

The thing I love most about this picture is the bowl of homemade whipped cream. That might not mean anything to anyone else, but to me it represents a fond and tender memory of my Grandma Johnson. She taught me how to make homemade whipped cream using her old kitchen aid mixer. I can still remember standing in her kitchen and her showing me how to do it when I’d go over there for Sunday dinners when I was a student at BYU. She always had me add 4 –5 of the sweet-n-low pink packets to sweeten it since she was diabetic & couldn’t have powdered sugar. It made me miss her so much as I whipped up this batch of homemade whipped cream for our crepes. I’m thankful to have those great memories of her.

For YW tonight we watched a movie (The Beautiful Beast) and I showed a few of the girls how to index. It’s nice to have some laid back/easy activities in the summer. The girls really seemed to enjoy the movie and were sad when we had to stop it w/ 30 minutes left.
