Marvelous Meandering Monday

IMG_9244 We got up this morning, got ready for the day, and went upstairs to see what everyone was up to. Aunt Jill is the best and had breakfast for the kids. They even get to eat in the living room while watching cartoons! This truly is a vacation. We said goodbye to Cory & his family b/c they were packing up to leave and go back home to California. It was so fun to be there at the same time they were so that Autumn had some cousins around her age to hang out with.

IMG_5449 Then we went over to Zion’s Mercantile shop in the River Woods to visit Bro. Moon. He used to be our home teacher before they moved to Utah, and Autumn really had a special connection w/ him. She LOVED hearing all the really cool stories he has to share.

IMG_5454 He even let Autumn help him open the safe where he keeps all his most special books. We also got to go in his office and see other unique items. He gave this beautiful painting to Autumn that a man in Peru had done. She was floored that it was hers to keep and take home. I appreciate so much the love and concern that Bro. Moon shows towards Autumn and that he makes her feel special.

IMG_9245 By this time we were hungry so we went up to BYU to get some lunch at the CougarEat. Getting to walk around campus w/ my Autumn Girl brought back a FLOOD of memories. I feel like I was in college just a few years ago, so it’s a little trippy to be at my old stomping grounds w/ my 8 year old!!! After lunch HAD to get a mint brownie.

IMG_5461 We had nothing on our agenda until this evening so we decided to drive up Provo Canyon to see if the leaves were changing colors. We stopped at Bridal Veil Falls to walk around and take some pictures. It’s so beautiful! We didn’t see any good colored leaves so we kept going up the canyon hoping we’d some some pretty ones around the Heber or Park City area. No such luck. I don’t know if they had already turned colors earlier, or if there just weren’t any this year. Too bad.

IMG_5466 We went to the University of Utah student housing so I could show Autumn the apartment she lived in until she was 5 months old. Speaking of trippy, it was for sure trippy to see her swinging on those swings and playing on this playground that she played at when she was 5 months old! The place has not changed one single drop! There are lots of really great and lots of really terrible memories here, but I was just focusing on the great ones.

IMG_5480 After our trip down memory lane we drove to Temple Square. Our first stop was the breathtaking Christus statue.

IMG_5502 We had fun walking around temple square and having people take our picture for us.

IMG_5529 All this picture is missing is a righteous priesthood holder! LOL!

IMG_5533 We kept oohing and aahing about how incredible the flowers and gardens are. I wish the weather & soil in Texas would be suitable for sure gorgeous growth.

IMG_5536 Selfie!

IMG_5571 It makes me so happy that Autumn enjoys nature & beautiful things as much as I do.

IMG_5587 I am so blessed that she’s mine!!!

IMG_5613 After our stroll around Temple Square we went to “The Castle” where I lived as a little girl. There was a for sale sign in the yard, so I’ll have to tell Mom & Dad they could buy it again if they wanted. LOL. It’s so old and run down and needs so much work. But it was neat to peek through the windows and look over the fence into the backyard and see where I spent so many happy childhood days.

IMG_9267 We had a little bit of time to kill, so we stopped at Swig to try their famous cookies and get a drink. We decided we’re BIG fans and wish they had these in Texas.

IMG_5624 We met up w/ some of the Hatch Family at Rumbi Grill for dinner. We wanted somewhere that we could sit and talk and not feel rushed. What a great lookin’ group.

IMG_5626 I wish I could describe how much I love these people. Josh had us laughing so hard that we had tears rolling down our cheeks. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time.

IMG_5631We had to get a “sisters” picture, and Autumn stood in for Mimi’s spot. We are blessed beyond measure to have such loving and wonderful family. It was the perfect ending to an already incredible day!

What a fun trip! The BYU brownies are a necessity when you are in Provo. We got some too! I saw a SWIG while we were there and wanted to stop, but we didn't have time. I have heard their cookies are the best. Love the temple shots and with your family! Looks like a great trip!
