22 Year Old Dirndl Dress

P1030537 We got up this morning so we could get cleaned up and then went to get our pictures taken professionally by the uber talented Stephanie of Auburn Soul.  I was in her first Mamarazzi class back in March 2010.  I’m a big fan of her work and she had a sale going for Christmas card pictures this month.  We were going to have it done Wednesday night, but she rescheduled to this morning.  We just met at some old buildings near downtown and I can’t wait to see how well they turn out.  I told Autumn if she was good that we would go get a cupcake.  She was really good, so after pictures we went to a bakery up the street and Autumn picked this huge cupcake w/ white frosting and rainbow colored sprinkles.

P1030555 They had these cool old tractors set up on a few corners in downtown, so we stopped to get pictures b/c it was the perfect photo op.  Autumn wasn’t too sure about sitting on this tractor at first but then was all about getting to “steer” the tractor when she realized it wasn’t going to turn on or go anywhere.

P1030561 I think this is her new favorite move, b/c Stephanie had her do this for a few pictures and she kept doing it when I was trying to take her picture.  As if she wasn’t enough of a diva already!  LOL!

P1030564 I just can’t get enough of the quaint shops and charm of downtown.  We sat in these chairs for a minute outside of this antique store so Autumn could eat her cupcake.

P1030574We went to Mom & Dad’s house to see what he was up to, and so I could use the internet to look up an address.  Today our stake did a “Day of Service” in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Church’s Welfare Program.  Autumn & I were assigned to go help someone paint their house so they can get ready to sell it.  I called the guy from our ward to see if they could still use our help or if they were already done.  He didn’t answer, so we didn’t go over. There were service projects all over that were being done.  Dad was in a group that had gone and helped trim bushes for someone that has been in the hospital and can’t take care of their yard.  I’m so thankful to belong to a world-wide church that stresses the importance of service and helping others.

We got to talk to Mom for a little bit, and she said she’s so glad she’s in Germany even though it’s been hard, but she’s ready to come home in a few days.  That got me to thinking about the dirndls (German dresses) that we bought when we lived there.  I knew Lexie had a blue one and I wondered if it would fit Autumn.  I was able to find it in the back of Mom’s closet, and am so glad we’ve held onto it (mine was also in there) for the past 22 years.  I tried it on Autumn and it fits great.  She looks so cute and might just dress up as a Fraulein for Halloween.  Maybe I’ll have to start calling her Heidi.  I am so glad that Mom was big on taking pictures and documenting our lives so that I can now have a side-by-side comparison of how cute Lexie looked in it and that Autumn can wear it now.

img011While looking through my scrapbook for the picture of Lexie in her dirndl, I found this picture of both of us with Melitta and it’s neat to think that Mom is in Germany w/ Melitta right now!  It’s just another testament to me of how important it is to take pictures and document our lives.  I’ll have to get out my dirndl and let Autumn wear that when she’s older and it will fit.

We watched the BYU game until the 3rd quarter b/c it was 50 to 3 by that time.  Then we went out and helped Dad in the yard for a little bit.  He was trimming the bushes around the house and Autumn & I were raking up the leaves and branches and putting them in the trash can.  It was all fine and good until I got bit by a mosquito and got a big welt on my arm.  I called it quits after that and came in the house to make dinner.  We ate and then by this time it was 6:30 and Autumn wanted to go home so she could play w/ her toys at our house.

She watched a movie while I worked on Project Life.  When the movie was over, I thought it was super late but it was only 8:30.  I put her to bed, and she fell right asleep b/c she didn’t take a nap earlier today.  I stayed up until midnight working on my 2011 Project Life and then when I was current on that, I worked on my mission PL.
