Princess Bride & Summer Magic

IMG_3791 It was just another typical Sunday morning at the Johnson house.  We got up and had some breakfast, and then watched a few movies together.  Autumn picked Princess Bride, which she had never seen, and really liked it.  It’s such a classic.  There are so many good one-liners in that movie.  Then she picked Summer Magic.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE that movie and all the fun songs, especially Pink of Perfection & Femininity.  If you’ve never heard either of those songs, you need to click on those links and listen to them.  It is so much fun to share some of my favorite old time movies w/ Autumn.  She liked the Ugly Bug Ball song the best.  After that we made mac & cheese and then got ready for church.  She’s still into striking this pose ever since we got our pictures taken on Saturday.  She looked so cute w/ her little ruffled socks.

IMG_3796 We took about 10 self portraits and this was the best one we could get.  She kept closing her eyes and being a little stinker pinker.  Church was good and Kylie came and sat on our row b/c they get too squished w/ 5 adults on their row, which Autumn was loving.  My class was pretty good and we talked about testimonies and what they are and how to share one (don’t just say you know the church is true and you love your family and know they love you).  In Primary I was really impressed, b/c I only have 1 kid left since all the others have graduated into Young Men and Young Women’s.  Poor Seth was feeling sad about having to sit by just me in Primary, but the group of boys from the class just younger than Seth (the class I taught last year) all came and told him to come sit with them!  It warmed my heart and made me so happy to see them do that.  Such a small gesture, but it meant a lot to Seth.

P1030583After church, we went over to Mom & Dad’s and Dad had made creamy crock pot chicken with noodles and corn!  I was super impressed.  We ate dinner and then Autumn said she was good at church and had earned 3 scoops of ice cream.  I told her to hold up 3 fingers, which she did, but then promptly closed her eyes and refused to open them.  So, this picture will just have to do since she wouldn’t open her eyes.  I’m telling you…that 3 scoop thing is working like a CHARM!!!  If she starts being silly or acting up in church, all I have to do is hold up 2 fingers instead of 3 and she starts to behave instantly.  LOVE IT!

We left and came home b/c our home teachers were coming over at 6:30.  I just love them, b/c they are so good with Autumn.  Bro. Maggart brought his iPad and was showing Autumn pictures from the Book of Mormon and told her stories about the pictures and who the people were.  She was soaking it up like a sponge.  After they left, we watched that new show called “Once Upon A Time.”  It was pretty good and I’m excited to see the episodes coming up and how the story line develops.  She played w/ her dolls and then it was bedtime.  She had a hard time falling asleep b/c she knows Mimi is coming home tomorrow and is just so excited.  I am too, b/c we have missed her a lot!
