Pack ‘Em Up & Move ‘Em Out

Anytime I move, I have to sing the song from this Strawberry Shortcake movie.  Skip to 2:34 in the clip and that’s the song I’ve been singing all morning.  LOVE IT!

IMG_4489 Autumn & I got up this morning and had some breakfast and then I got dressed in my grungy clothes and started a long and grueling day.  I kept packing and then loaded my whole trunk full of stuff to give to a local charity.  Autumn & I went and dropped off 2 sets of dishes, clothes I don’t wear anymore, a microwave we don’t use, etc.  Then we went over to the new house and the first things I brought w/ me and put away were my Mission & 2011 Project Life binders.  I wanted to take a picture of all the furniture that I bought from the previous home owner.  She sold me this really nice TV cabinet for $150.

IMG_4490 Then there is this nice table, mirror, and tropical looking plant that go perfectly in the little hall between Autumn’s room and the master bedroom.

IMG_4498 This was the best deal, though.  She sold me everything you see here; the day bed, trundle bed underneath, 2 dressers, lamps, picture, and all the bedding and pillows for only $250!  Such a great price for a whole new bedroom set for Autumn.

IMG_4487 Then the last thing I bought were these 4 bar chairs for $200.  They fit perfectly at the big island in the kitchen.

IMG_4512This is the closet under the stairs, and we put the mattress from the crib in there, b/c if we put it out in the garage then it will go bad b/c of the heat.  So, we put it in there and Dad told Andrew this could be his own room since Autumn gets her own room.  The kids had so much fun playing in there.

Dad & Jon are worth their weight in gold.  They borrowed Curt’s trailer and took all the big and heavy stuff out of the old house and over to the new house.  They would bring a trailer full, unload it, and go back and get more.  I lost track of how many trips they made, but they were work machines.  I would make trips too, w/ my car full of boxes and clothes.  Dad said it’s always impressive to see all the big stuff like couches and beds leave the house b/c then it looks so empty.  But the real work is all the little stuff that we use everyday like dishes, clothes, toys, food, etc.  I have a feeling I’ll be making lots of trips to the house after work to get more stuff for the next few days.  I thought I’d gone through a lot of stuff and given it away, but I am still amazed at how much crap I have.

Mom & Lexie made sure the kids were fed and entertained, and also helped to put stuff away.  We worked all day and then Mom went back to her house to make dinner and we all went over at 6:00 to eat.  Then Mom & Dad went to stake conference and the rest of us stayed home to relax.  My feet and back hurt so bad from being on my feet all day.  After a while Autumn & I came home (to the new house) and slept on my mattress on the floor b/c we didn’t have a chance to put the beds together yet.

We got so much accomplished today, but at the same time there is still so much to do.  I’ll just work at it a little everyday when I get home from work and eventually it will all get done and things put away where they belong.
