This morning we slept in a little bit and then stayed in jammies and watched movies. I found some old VHS tapes that Mom had recorded movies on before we moved to Germany b/c we didn’t know what type of English kids shows they would have on TV in Germany. So, we got to watch some old classics like the Disney version of Sleepy Hollow w/ Ichabod Crane and then Babes In Toyland. I LOVE that movie w/ Annette Funicello. The costumes to the dancing to the songs just make me happy. I love sharing classic movies from my childhood w/ Autumn.
Before I knew it, it was already noon, and I wanted to get out of the house. So, Autumn & I went to McDonalds for lunch b/c I had a coupon. Autumn ate and then went off to play. I had to go to the bathroom at one point, so I made her come w/ me since I couldn’t leave her alone on the play area. We were in the bathroom and Autumn brought her Happy Meal box w/ her and kept putting it on her head. She cracks me up.
After staying there for a while, we left so we could run some errands. We went out to our car, which was parked way out in the sticks b/c McDonald’s was so busy when we got there that there wasn’t any parking close to the restaurant. There was a lady trying to get into her car, which was parked next to us. She had locked her keys in her car and had a few wire hangers tied together and was trying to hold the door jam open w/ screwdrivers. I went over to help her by keeping the top of the door open w/ the screwdrivers while she tried to pull the handle w/ the hangers. She climbed up on top of the car and almost got it to work, but the hanger wasn’t strong enough to pull the handle and would just bend.
All this time, Autumn was standing there and kept saying she wanted to go home and why were we helping this lady, and when could we leave? LOL. She was just being a normal kid and I love her for asking the questions and saying the things that might seem rude but are completely innocent. Autumn finally went and sat down on a strip of grass to play w/ her McDonald’s toy. We never were able to open the door, even after the lady was able to get the hanger around the door handle and pull really hard. I guess b/c it’s an electrical lock, it wasn’t going to work. She thanked me for helping and Autumn & I left. I hope that was a good experience for Autumn to learn that sometimes it’s inconvenient to help others, but it’s always the right thing to do.
We went to WalMart to get some groceries, and I was on the hunt for some We R Memory Keepers 12x12 faux leather scrapbooking binders for my mission Project Life. I have done so many pages, that I am running out of room in the binder I have. I didn’t know if WalMart would have any, but since we were already there I decided to check. Nope, they didn’t have any. So, we went over to Hobby Lobby and they didn’t have any either. But, we did pick up a cute wooden thing to hang on our front door that says “Harvest”.
So, next stop was a Joann’s that was 30 min away. I knew they would have what I was looking for b/c they sell those binders online, but I didn’t want to pay for shipping. We got to the store, started looking around, and I couldn’t find the binders. So, I asked a worker for help and she tried to be helpful but had no clue. Well, they only sell the binders online and not in the store! So, lesson learned was that I need to call first before wasting my gas driving all over. It wasn’t a total waste, though, b/c Autumn and I had fun shopping and driving around and singing in the car together. Our lives are so busy w/ school and work that it was fun to just spend an afternoon together w/ nothing on the agenda.
By this time, it was early evening so we went to Mom & Dad’s b/c they had just gotten home from going to one of the clinics together and Mom had made crock pot spaghetti. It was SO GOOD! Autumn & I didn’t stay long and came home and watched TV together and then both went to bed at 9:30 b/c we were tired from being up kind of late the night before.
