Jackson’s First Haircut & A New Calling

P1030903 This morning was fun.  We got a roast, carrots, & potatoes ready to put in the oven for dinner later.  We also made some deviled eggs for Mom to give to people for helping her w/ the crèche.  Mom is famous for her deviled eggs.  Then we gave Jackson his first haircut b/c he had a little tuft at the crown of his head and then a fringe at the bottom.  We put him in his bumby and he did GREAT!  He didn’t even cry or fuss at all.  We kept saying Grandpa Jay would be so proud, b/c he was a barber and usually gave the grandkids their first haircuts.

P1030906 Mom got this adorable Christmas dress for Autumn at the kids consignment store.  We came home and got ready for church.  I was asked to come to church a little bit early so I could meet w/ one of the members of the bishopric.  I was asked if I would accept a new calling.  I would be released from Primary and was asked to work as a Laurel’s (17-18 year old girls) advisor in the Young Women’s.  I heartily said yes, b/c I have ALWAYS wanted to work in Young Women’s.  I still keep in touch w/ a few of my YW leaders b/c they had such an impact on my life and I hope to be able to pay that forward to the girls I will be working with.

I taught my kids for the last time today, and they were surprised that I was released.  I made sure to let them know that I found out about it right before church, and not that I’ve known it for weeks.  They asked me if I was still going to have the pizza party I had promised them next week.  I told them no, b/c I had been released.  They were so sad and I told them I was just kidding and that OF COURSE we would still have our pizza party.  I am really going to miss teaching these kids, but it’s not going to be too sad b/c I’ll still see the girls in YW and I’ll see the boys on Wednesday at mutual.  Otherwise, I would be a lot sadder than I was.

After I taught my last lesson w/ them, I got to go to YW for the 3rd hour.  I am so ecstatic to work w/ these girls.  Plus, just as great will be working w/ the other leaders.  Karri D. is one of them, and I have missed having her as a visiting teaching partner so this will be awesome to work w/ her again.

My only concern was that they have activities every Wednesday night, and what would I do with Autumn?  They said they would work w/ me on that. I can bring Autumn to some activities, and other ones where we might be doing something she couldn’t do, then Karri offered to have her husband & other daughter watch Autumn if Mom & Dad can’t.  I figure if the Lord wants me in this calling, then a way will be provided for me to fulfill my calling.

P1030908After church, Autumn & I went straight over to Mom & Dad’s so they could see her new dress all together w/ her pretty hairdo and ruffle socks & church shoes.  We ate dinner & Christine D. was over to eat w/ us since her ex has the kids this weekend.  We were watching football and I was petting Emma & she was stinky.  So, I went and gave her a bath.  I wrapped her up in a towel and kept holding her like she was my baby b/c she was shaking from being so cold.  After her bath, she was much for fun to pet b/c she smelled good.  Autumn & I finally came home to get ready for the coming week.  I worked on putting things away and then watched TV for a while before calling it a night.
