Lesson Prep & Newsies

Today at work, I actually got a lot done and got some things taken care of that have been sitting on my desk for a week.  It makes me nuts to have things that I know need to be done, but I can’t do them b/c I have to wait for a sales guy to call me back or a vendor to call and let me know pricing.  So, it felt good to have those things off my “to do list”.  After all of that was done, I had time left to kill so I started working on the first lesson I’ll teach in Young Women’s, which will be the 2nd Sunday in January.  I know that’s almost a month away, but I want to be prepared and be thinking about my lessons in advance so that I can allow the Spirit to guide me in teaching what these girls need to hear.
The lesson is HERE and is about Jesus Christ, The Savior.  I have found some GREAT websites like Sugardoodle that have wonderful handouts and ideas on things to incorporate into the lesson to really help the girls understand certain concepts.  I found an EXCELLENT talk entitled, "The Fall & Infinite Atonement" by Elder Spencer J. Condie that broke down the basics of the gospel and why we had to have a Savior & the Atonement.  I was highlighting almost every line b/c it was so good.

So, I got my outline all typed up and figured out what I want to say and share.  Then I got an email towards the end of the work day from my YW president saying that for my lesson she wants us to focus on the missionary 1st discussion since the Laurel’s will be going on mini-missions the next Saturday.  So much for planning ahead! :)  But I am excited about getting to teach the first discussion, especially since it’s been a LONG time since I’ve done that.

new I got Autumn from “college” and we went over to Mom & Dad’s house for dinner.  After dinner, Lexie said she wanted to watch a movie.  So, we picked Newsies b/c that was one of our favorites when we were growing up and we both haven’t seen it in a long time.  My favorite song on there is King of New York, but I’m also a big fan of Seize the Day.  Such a good movie, and it made me remember why I used to have a huge crush on Christian Bale!  Lexie & I were laughing about how it’s funny that I actually had a crush on a white guy, b/c usually I only crush on brown boys.  It was a great walk down memory lane.

What’s one of your favorite movies from childhood?

Anytime I see or hear about Newsies or Christian Bale, I think of you!
