Outrageous

Today when I got into work, my yahoo messenger thing popped up this story. It's about a judge in Louisiana that won't grant a marriage license to an interracial couple. You can read the article yourself, but his reasons are that he thinks children from interracial marriages suffer b/c they are not accepted by white or black people. Um, WHAT? And not only that, but he goes on to say, "I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way. I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else." (Bold added)

Is anyone else completely offended by that statement? I am in complete and utter shock and disbelief that a well educated man could be so ignorant! It makes me so sad that in this day and age some people would still have such a backwards way of thinking. I am appalled. It's really disappointing that some people still think and feel that way.

WHAT DO
Y'ALL THINK???

I saw that as well. It just shows that there are still some 'southerners' among us. (Oh great, I live in the South.) I have friends and neighbors that are interracial. We are all people. Doesn't matter what color!

The truly sad thing is (I see this living in the south) that it actually does happen. People don't accept them because they are mixed. This comes from both the blacks and the whites. This judge is not far off. Now I would say this is not the majority but their are many out there.

NO I don't agree he should deny them a marriage license. AND I let them use my bathroom, that cracks me up. I guess the "black" bathroom in his garage is no longer in use.

um...America is the melting pot right? We're all pretty a mix of soemthing...lame judge, lame reason not to marry a couple. So, does the judge think this will solve the problem? Give me a break...

I think with any couple there are going to be challenges, and discriminations, either you don't make enough money, too much money, you're in the wrong religion, etc. I think as long as two people love each other, and are faithful to one another, than it doesn't matter their race or skin color. The bible does have a passage about a curse being placed upon a couple of interracial marriages, but I think that curse isn't meant like "a curse" as it means darker skin color, which don't get me wrong, I think is absolutely beautiful, just that Cain was cursed with a dark skin. Do you know what I'm trying to say here, cause its sounding kinda racist, even though that's not at all what I'm meaning or thinking. Basically we're all God's children, and if He who is God loves his children equally, than who are we to discriminate. :D
