Today we got up and got ready and dropped Autumn off at daycare. Then Rufio & I went to WalMart to return a rug for my kitchen and get a few groceries. After we got home and put everything away, I left to go to my yearly “woman exam.” I haven’t had one in over 2 years, which is not good since I was supposed to have one every 6 months after getting HPV from Jason and having an abnormal pap smear. I got to the office early and ended up waiting almost an hour before I went up to the front desk to ask them if they had forgotten about me. I guess a woman had had a miscarriage that morning and were running behind in their appointments. I felt so bad for the woman even though I didn’t know who it was. That must be so hard and as soon as I heard why I had to wait so long, my anger and frustrations that had built up immediately went away. I ended up rescheduling b/c there were two people in front of me waiting to be seen and I couldn’t wait that long.
I had plans w/ Rufio and Mom. We hopped in the car and went to the mall to see Julie & Julia. We got there a little early and were all hungry, so we got a Subway footlong sandwich for only $3.99, which I thought was a great deal. It was so tasty and really hit the spot. Then, we went and got our tickets to the movie. The lobby of the theater had all these sayings from different movies on the floor. I thought that was really cool. It was a really cute movie, but was too slow moving for my taste. But, it was fun to be there w/ Rufio and Mom and just spend time w/ them.
We stopped and picked Autumn up from daycare and then came home to relax. We wanted a little snack, so we had some cottage cheese w/ pineapple and banana slices w/ a piece of toast. Now before you think to yourself, “that sounds nasty," don’t knock it until you try it. I used to think it sounded disgusting, but once I tried it, it’s not so bad. It reminds me of Rufio, so it was fun to eat it w/ her.
We bought some WalMart brand large curd cottage cheese. We got it home and it did not look or taste like cottage cheese…it was more like a ricotta cheese, so Rufio had me read her the ingredients to see if we had gotten the right stuff. After I put the container down, Autumn picked it up and pretended to read off the ingredients just like I had. I am amazed at how much she is starting to imitate what she sees me, and others who are around her, do. She is such a little sponge and I want to make sure I’m doing good things that will be worthy of her imitation. She’s such a little sponge, just soaking up everything around her.
Autumn saw some Cheetos in the pantry and wanted some, but she was very willing to share w/ Rufio (as long as she could feed it to Rufio).
Then she wanted to share the batter of the mixer w/ Rufio b/c we made some lemon shortbread cookies. I just love sitting back and soaking in these tender moments of Autumn interacting w/ her Great Grandma.
We had to chill the cookie dough before rolling it out, but Autumn was all excited about rolling it out w/ her rolling pin. She is such a good helper and loves to be involved in cooking and doing what I am doing.
Rufio brought this fun book of cookie recipes to share w/ me. It has 100 recipes (one on the front and one on the back of each card). After watching Julie & Julia, I wanted to try and bake every type of cookie in there. But, I think that’s going to be way too expensive, not to mention I don’t need the calories. But, I’ll try quite a few of the recipes and let you know how they turn out.
Here are the cookies we made, and they were just ok, but not great. I won’t make them again anytime soon b/c there is so much butter and I’m not a big fan of cookies that I have to roll out b/c they just make a big mess. But, it was fun to spend time w/ Rufio and Autumn making them.

You have to keep up with those appt! 2 years is too long to wait with something like that!
I went through the HPV while pregnant thing myself...
You are amazing.
Sprinkles cupcakes...totally worth at least once...if you're in the area.
And you really are amazing.
