Why I’m Such A Fan Of Project Life

P1040233 It is AMAZING to me that I didn’t even know about Project Life (PL) until the end of 2010.  That’s the first time I ever heard about it and looked up what it was online.  I wasn’t convinced at the time that it was for me b/c I did a daily blog and printed my blog off into a book every year.  But, I finally took the plunge in 2011 and bought a kit and it was delivered on May 19th.  I went back and did from January to May and got caught up and then kept it going the rest of the year.  I loved PL so much that I decided to do my 2002-2003 mission to Slovenija.  As you can see, I now have 5 big binders that are full of pictures and ephemera and journaling.  I have 2 binders for 2011 and 3 binders for my mission, and I’m not even done with my mission pictures yet.  I’ll probably end up with 4 binders for that b/c I took so many pictures during those 18 months that I served.

P1040242 It is AMAZING to me that I have done a total of 152 layouts(meaning a 2 page spread) in just 8 months!  I didn’t work on it every single day, but I was able to accomplish that many layouts by working on it when I could (which included quite a few nights of staying up until 2 am b/c I am a night owl).

P1040240 It is AMAZING to me that I now have the beginnings of an incredible legacy of documented memories to share with Autumn and my family.  It’s just going to keep growing, too.  It’s comforting to know that when I die someday, my stories won’t die with me.  My kid(s) and grandkids and great grandkids and on and on will have a glimpse into what my life was like, and what things that were important to me.  I have always had an innate desire to “cultivate a good life and record it,” as Becky Higgins says.  But, I didn’t have a good way to organize those records.  PL has given me that perfect way to organize and display my memories so that they will be looked at and enjoyed instead of just sitting in a box on a shelf.  I especially appreciate that I am able to tell the stories that go along w/ the pictures in my own words.  That way anyone who looks at my pictures will know what they were about, and the story behind why I felt it was important to capture that moment in time.

It is AMAZING to me how much PL has changed my life for the better in just the 8 short months I’ve been using it.  I look forward to using it for years to come and also going back and PLifing my past.

It's funny that you posted about this. Just this morning I watched all your Project Life videos. You do such a great job on camera! Seriously, you speak well, you seem comfortable, and I can tell you really care about your project!
