Tonight for dinner Mom made Salisbury steak w/ gravy & rice and it was so good! She made a huge pan of it to take to the women’s shelter b/c it was her ward’s turn to take a meal. After we ate, Autumn & I had to leave and go to Young Women’s. Mom & Dad had a meeting w/ the Stake President and Nick was working so Autumn got to go with me.
For our activity, all the Young Women were together. We did an activity called, “Good, better, best.” One of the girls did a spiritual thought at the beginning from the incredible talk by Elder Oaks. You can/should read the talk HERE. Then we split the girls up into 3 groups and gave each group a paperclip. The idea was that they had to try and trade their paperclip for something bigger or better. They could go to anyone’s house and explain what we were doing and see if they could trade up. They had 45 minutes and had to bee back to the church to see which group ended up w/ the best thing.
Autumn & I stayed at the church in case one of the groups got back early, plus one of the girls was supposed to be brining snacks and we didn’t know when she was going to show up. I love being in Young Women’s, but it is so hard for me to sit back and not take over for these girls. It was very stressful b/c I didn’t know if the girl in charge of bringing treats was going to come or not. I called her, texted her, and couldn’t get a hold of her for over 30 minutes. Finally at 7:50 Autumn & I ran to the local drugstore to get some snacks b/c the groups were supposed to be back at 8:00. I finally heard from the girl saying she would bring by the treats!
I taught Autumn a lesson about how to be reliable (and also what that meant), b/c when you’re not reliable it makes a lot more stress and work for others. It all ended up working out fine, but it frustrates me sometimes.
The 3 groups each traded/upgraded their item about 4-5 different times and most of them went to member’s homes. The 3 groups ended up w/ a bouquet of fake flowers, a child’s picnic table umbrella, and a case of 35 water bottles. The group that had 35 water bottles won the contest, and from what I heard the girls all had a good time.
These cupcakes had nothing to do w/ our activity, but they were for the Young Women in another ward’s birthdays. I had to get a picture of them b/c they are so stinkin’ cute. I love that the cupcakes were in little flower pots and looked like mushrooms and that the caterpillars were made from fruit roll ups. So creative!
Mom & Dad stopped by room we were in after their meeting and took Autumn w/ them so I could wrap up the activity and help clean up. I called when we were finished and they said they were all at WalMart getting a treat. They met me here at home and got their treats ready and then went to enjoy them on the couch. Mom had a cucumber and sugar free jell-o w/ sugar free whipped cream. Dad had fresh strawberries w/ honey, and Autumn had pink ice cream (she didn’t care what flavor it was, she just wanted it to be pink) w/ some fresh strawberries on top. YUM!
Mom had our genealogy fans printed off at Staples, and they look awesome! I really wish I could see Autumn’s so I could see if any work has been done on Jason’s side. But, you have to be at least 8 years old to have an account on lds.org. Guess I’ll have to wait 3 years.
