Sunday Sweep

This morning I got up early for a Sunday and got ready and headed over to the stake center at 8:00 to get a good (padded) seat for Stake Conference.  Nick was nice enough to stay home w/ Autumn so I could go and enjoy conference w/out having to try and keep her entertained for 2 hours (3 including the hour early I went to get a good seat).  Conference was really good and a missionary that just got back from his mission to the Marshall Islands spoke.  It made me think of the incredible months I got to spend in the Marshall Islands w/ a social work internship.  I’ll have to go back and look at those pictures and relive how wonderful it was.

IMG_5390After conference, I came home and got Autumn dressed and we went over to Mom & Dad’s house to have some lunch.  While Mom & I were cooking, Autumn went and got the broom and swept the wood floors.  She LOVES to sweep for some reason, and I don’t ask her to do it…she does it for fun!  She’s such a cute little bug.

IMG_5392 After lunch, we wanted to get out of the house and enjoy the nice weather.  I also wanted to go check on our favorite spot to take bluebonnet pictures.  Lexie said on her drive home that the sides of the freeway were already covered in bluebonnets.  We drove past the spot and the bluebonnets weren’t completely out yet, but we could see that they will be soon.  I was so sad to see a sign posted in front of the bluebonnet hill that said no standing or parking!  I wonder if the neighbors complained about too many cars of if the people who own that land don’t want people taking pictures there anymore?  Sad!  Since we were out in the country we decided to drive a few more minutes to the lake.  We got out there and it was SUPER windy.  Too bad we didn’t bring a kite!

IMG_5395 I was so glad to see that the 3 wooden posts that Nate & Autumn “planked” on back in August had water lapping up against them.  We had a horrible drought last summer and I’m hoping this is a good sign that we won’t have a bad drought this summer.

IMG_5396 Autumn is such a girly girl, but she also likes to get dirty.  We just let her run and play and explore.  She was having a blast and kept coming over to show us a cool rock or shell or piece of wood that she found.  We didn’t stay for long b/c it was so windy.  I’ll have to take her back there again and spend a few hours so she can really explore every nook & cranny.

P1050152 We went back to Mom & Dad’s house to relax and then left at 5:30 to go visiting teaching.  I was going to leave Autumn home w/ Nick, but she begged to come.  I just love this sister that we taught.  After our visit she took us around her yard to show us some of her flowers.  I don’t remember what this one is called, but I LOVE it and have never seen one like it before.  It was GORGEOUS.

P1050153 Autumn was diggin’ this little sitting area.  I would totally come out here every day to have a tea party b/c it was so picturesque.

P1050155These trumpet vines all along the fence were just beautiful.  I’ll keep saying it for the next few months…Spring is by far my favorite time of year.  The world is waking up, nature is in full bloom, and the weather is nice and cool.  It makes me so happy.

We came home after visiting teaching and watched Once Upon A Time and made some pink lemonade cupcakes.  I love days like today!
