My teeth have been hurting so bad the past few days, so I made an appt yesterday to go in this morning. Those 2 fillings I had done last week on the lower left hand side are still hurting really bad. I don’t think it’s my teeth, it’s a spot on my jaw that is incredibly tender. I keep telling Mom & Dad that I have mandibular cancer. I don’t even know if mandibular is a word, but I’m using it. My dentist said the pain on the lower left hand side will eventually go away. Um….ok??? On the lower right hand side, the gum tissue between my root canal and other tooth were hurting so bad I couldn’t even chew on that side. He said there was a small spot that was unprotected b/c I don’t have a crown on yet and that food particles could get stuck in there. He scraped it out and it hurt so bad, but it felt so much better later on in the day. He didn’t charge me for the visit, which was really nice. He said I really need to get a crown on that tooth or else food can get stuck in that spot and will be like a splinter…it will hurt and become inflamed. It’s $990 for a crown w/out insurance and I’ve already used all my dental insurance coverage for the year. So, I’ll have to decide if I can afford the crown or if I can wait until January of next year when my insurance starts over.
I stopped on the way to work and grabbed a pineapple & mango smoothie for breakfast b/c I hadn’t eaten before the dentist. It was pretty good, but definitely not something I would get all the time.
Lately I have been noticing how colorful and pretty the crepe myrtle trees are. We call them “crappy myrtle”. Some are hot pink.
Some are more of a light purple/pink color. They are all over b/c they can withstand this stifling Texas heat. Today the weather was so weird, b/c it was sunny outside just like in this picture, but it started raining and we heard lots of thunder rumbles. Even though it was weird, I love it b/c Texas spring storms are one of my favorite things.

ummm... you shouldn't have that kind of pain in a tooth that's been RCT'd. you shouldn't have that type of sensitivity on it either. the tooth is dead because the nerve has been removed... supposedly, in your case. i would have them do another xray to make sure you don't have an abscess developing and to make sure they did their job right. unless this pain is caused by having an open contact between your teeth which will cause your gums to be tender due to it being a food trap. if this is the case and you can't be seen sooner, you need to floss like the dickens, and if you can't floss, rinse like tbe dickens after every meal.
the pain in your jaw is most likely from the injection. sometimes if they hit you wrong w/ the needle, it will cause soreness for a long time. yes, it will go away, but if it takes more than a month, you should be seen somewhere for it. the other possibility on your left side is that your bite is too high due to the fillings. you should see if you can get your bite adjusted if you notice pain when you chew or find yourself using the opposite to eat.
and yes, mandibular is a word... it's your lower jaw. :) the maxillary is your upper jaw. i work as a dental assistant. hope this helps!! :o)
another option to hold you over until your insurance renews... ask if you can move forward with the build-up on the tooth that needs a crown. that's like having a really large filling, which is always necessary after a RCT is done. reason why is because so much natural tooth structure has been taken away that synthetic material is needed to create a structure for the crown to sit on. if done properly, this can close the open contact and help protect your gum tissue there until you can get the crown done... ok... i'm done. :D
