Lice Are Not Nice (Round 2)

IMG_2448 Mom picked Autumn up from daycare since she was over in that area.  She got our favorite Italian place food for dinner, and it was so good.  The sauce is so rich & creamy that I could only finish half of my pasta dish.  That’s good b/c I can have the rest for lunch tomorrow.  Autumn read to me, and then we came home so she could take a bath and play w/ her toys and soak.  When she got out, I decided to try putting curlers in her hair again.  The last time I tried it, they did NOT work b/c her hair was so short.  I was almost done and got to the short hairs at the nape of her neck & I noticed a small fuzzy on her hair.  It turned out to not be a fuzzy but a lice nit!  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!  So, I found some lice shampoo that I had from last time, and sent Nick to WalMart to get more.

IMG_2449 She was a good trooper (after she freaked out at first) and held relatively still for the 10 minutes that the stuff had to stay on her hair.  I guess the positive in all of this is that her hair is so much shorter this time (shoulder length) than it was last time (to her waist).  Also, I never saw any live lice.  I shook my hair out over the tub and didn’t see anything so hopefully I didn’t get any from her.  I told Nick to buy 2 kits so I can use one on my hair.

IMG_2450 In the meantime, I went around and gathered up all my bedding, her bedding, pillows, clothes, coats, towels, and stuffed animals.  I had a MASSIVE pile of laundry to work through.  I started a load right away so I could keep it going through the night.

IMG_2451 I had Nick bring me home some reinforcements to get us through the ordeal.  I took all the pillows, stuffed animals that couldn’t be washed, and her backpack out in the garage and sprayed them really well.  I also sprayed her car seat, seat belt, and both of our mattresses.

IMG_2452Then I spent the next 2 1/2 hours using a nit comb & super hot water to comb through her hair and get any nits.  We had Anne of Green Gables ~ The Continuing Story (the one where Gil & Anne get married and then he goes off to war) on while I did it.  Nick was a great helper and kept rotating our cups of clean hot water.  Poor Autumn was SO TIRED b/c it was 10:30 by the time I finished and she was able to climb into my bed.  I hope she’s not a complete stinker tomorrow!
