Fun, Fun, And More Farm Fun

Of course everyone that spent the night at the farm last night was up w/ the sun this morning. So, Aunt Sandy & I hurried downstairs to get breakfast ready. They all showed up about 8:00 & we had the breakfast of champions … French toast, sausage links, fruit salsa, and cookies! LOL. The kids have to keep up their strength for the egg hunt at the farm.

We let the kids play at the house outside for a while, and Emily and I went to the farm to hide the Easter eggs. When the kids showed up we had to get our traditional picture of all the kids w/ their Easter baskets. It will be so fun to put all these Easter pics together for each year and look at them years from now.

Tyler is so funny & made the kids line up by height. Then he ran them through a series of exercises. The last thing he had them do was stick out their arms & turn around 4 times really fast. Once they were good & dizzy he grabbed his Easter basket, yelled “GO,” and took off running to look for eggs. It was really funny.

We had PLENTY of eggs, and all of the kids were able to fill their baskets to full. I told Autumn she owed me a “Mom tax” and I took a few pieces of chocolate.

After the kids checked out their spoils from the egg hunt, it was time for some fun. Uncle Robert & Aunt Sandy brought this big huge cardboard box w/ them from a lawnmower they got. Uncle Robert tried smoothing out the hill on the dirt mountain so the kids could sit in the cardboard box & ride it down the dirt hill like a slide. It didn’t work at all. LOL!

But, that didn’t stop us from still trying. We cut the box apart & were able to make a slide out of it. The kids had SO MUCH FUN sliding down the cardboard. It worked as long as an adult was at the top standing on the cardboard so it didn’t go do the hill w/ the kids.

I asked Heather to take a picture of Autumn & me, b/c I’m always behind the camera. This was what we got. LOL! Autumn was pulling faces, I forgot I had my festive butterfly headband on, and River (Heather’s little girl) was more interested in her chew toy. Heather noticed that River’s blanket matched my scrub top perfectly!

We had sandwiches & chips for lunch and then it was time for the zip line. Uncle Robert had the kids climb this huge ladder & then he helped them get on the zip line swing.

Even some of the adults gave it a try.

Autumn wasn’t feeling adventurous & opted for the closer to the ground tree swing. I love this picture of her!

As if all of that wasn’t enough fun, everyone soon migrated over to the pond to fish & go kayaking. Isn’t this such an idyllic setting?

Autumn was able to catch a fish on her first cast.

After she got bored w/ fishing, I gave it a try and caught this abnormally large bluegill on my first cast! We love fishing at Uncle Robert’s pond, b/c you’ll usually catch fish on 7 out of 10 casts. Plus, he just sat there in a chair the whole time & he would take the hook out of our fish’s mouths and he would also put our worms on the hook! It was great.

I kept saying we needed to leave, but Autumn kept wanting to play. We commented several times last night & again today about how much fun the kids had w/ some sticks, rocks, and a pile of dirt. It’s so good for them to be out in nature and away from electronics & screens. Who knew a pile of dirt would be the hit of the whole thing? Autumn showing off her muscles & how she’s “king of the rock.”

I was finally able to pull myself away from fishing & Autumn away from the dirt pile and we left at 4:30. After about 10 minutes on the road Autumn got really quiet and she was in a DEEP sleep!

Since it was only 15 minutes out of our way to go to Costa Vida on the way home, I made a detour so we could stop and eat dinner there. Autumn was NOT easy or pleasant to wake up. As soon as we got back in the car after eating she was back in a deep sleep.

We got home, unloaded the car, & took showers b/c we were stinky. We watched part of “The Bible” on the history channel and then both fell fast asleep around 10:30.
