The Supreme Pizookie

Tonight for YW, one of the Laurels was going to teach us how to make a dairy free dessert. She is lactose intolerant, and it's always good to know recipes for special dietary restrictions. I was telling the YW you never know if your own kids will have allergies to food. One of the other Laurels was insistent that we get pizookies, but they are too expensive. So, my Laurel adviser was going to show us how to make them at my house b/c it's so much cheaper. Well, my adviser and the lactose intolerant YW both cancelled at the last minute. UGH!!!

So, we ended up going to get pizookies anyways. We ordered their "Supreme" which is MASSIVE! Look at how small that normal sized spoon looks. It was only $21 for this huge thing, which is way cheaper than if we had all gotten our own. I was surprised that we didn't even finish half of it. If I ever order this again, I would ask for ice cream on the side so the leftovers don't get all soggy. This would be so fun to order on a group date.

It was a fun night out, but I was sad that the YW were more interested in being on their phones than they were in talking to me and each other. I tried to engage all of them in conversation several times and it worked for a minute or two but then at least one of them would go back to looking at their phone. It's a super sad commentary on the social skills of our youth today. I told Autumn when we got home that no electronic device should ever take precedence over someone who is there with you in real life. I know it's something I need to work on when we're at home together at night. I asked her to remind me of that if I ever seem to put make my cell phone more important than her.

That looks amazing! I know what you mean about the phones. I am very strict that no phones are allowed in YW on Sundays or Wednesdays for activities. They can live without them for an hour those days. I tell them if I see them, I take them. And their parents know too, and it has worked well.
