MLK Day

IMG_2294 Today was MLK day, but unfortunately I didn’t get the day off work.  But, I did get to finally meet Marsel in person.  He’s the guy that Liz convinced me to give my phone number to back in March.  He finally called me a few months ago and we’ve been talking on the phone here and there.  We were finally able to meet and go out to eat today.

IMG_2297 We had fun and talked about all sorts of things and when he was showing me some scars on his arms (and his muscles) I snuck a picture.

IMG_2296 I told him to quit being so serious in the pictures and to smile, and this is what I got.  Oh, brother.  It was an enjoyable first meeting and we had a good time eating and talking.  It was nice to get to meet him in person after just talking to him on the phone for the past few months.

IMG_2650 After work/school, Autumn & I just spent a relaxing evening at home.  We watched TV and Autumn played w/ her dolls and put elastics in their hair.  Then she decided she wanted to come and lay on me and had Uncle Nick cover her up w/ her babies’ dish towels.  She’s such a little snuggle bug and I’m trying to snuggle w/ her as much as I can, b/c I know that pretty soon she’ll be “too cool” to give her Mama hugs and kisses.  So, I’m enjoying it while I can.

Since it’s MLK day, I wanted to say how thankful I am for courageous people like Martin Luther King, Jr.  I can’t imagine how hard it must have been to live back in those days.  But, he was willing to do whatever it took to stand up for what he believed in.  Just think of the incredible impact that he had, and continues to have.  The world definitely needs more outstanding human beings like him.
