Monday ~ Happiness is … Dad finding this cool little preying mantis. We were out swimming & kept smelling whiffs of something nasty like a dead animal. Dad went & looked under all the bushes, but never did find the source of the smell. He did, however, find this preying mantis that crawled up on his shoulder & just stared at me while I took his picture. Such odd looking animals!
Tuesday ~ Happiness is … Kim & Kourtney spending the night at Mom & Dad’s house tonight & it was so fun to see them & visit w/ them. Kourtney has been in FL working at Disney, but is going back up to UT to college. It’s hard to believe they were here almost exactly one year ago taking her up to college for the 1st time. We love having so many friends from Dad being in the military.
Wednesday ~ Happiness is … having Nate home! He flew from Japan to San Antonio last night & Zack picked him up and drove him to Lexie’s house where he spent the night. Then this morning Mom & Nick drove down and met Lexie half way to pick him up and bring him home. He requested Chipotle for dinner and was really funny at dinner tonight b/c he was so jet lagged. His nasty mustache has GOTZ.TO.GO!!!
Thursday ~ Who: Autumn & her 1st Grade teacher
What: Meet the teacher night. I picked Autumn up from daycare & we went over to see her classroom & meet her teacher. She seems really nice.
Where: Autumn’s Elementary School
When: Thursday, August 22nd 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Friday ~ Who: Jozet & Matt and Nate & Riannon
What: Jozet (my cousin) & Matt came up here to buy a horse trailer and called to see if they could come say hi and spend the night. I also got to meet Riannon for the 1st time today b/c she flew in from California.
Where: Mom & Dad’s house
When: Thursday, August 22nd
Saturday ~ Who: Ben & Evelyn & Lucy & Autumn & Deb & Me
What: Deb called and invited Autumn & I to go w/ them on a fun “last Saturday of summer” adventure. The kids loved getting to touch and feed the sting rays. So much fun!
Where: Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park
When: Saturday, August 24th
Sunday ~ Who: Autumn & Papa
What: Papa gave Autumn a Father’s Blessing before she starts 1st grade tomorrow. He always did this for us kids before we started a new school year, and it means so much to me that he can do this for Autumn!
Where: Papa & Mimi’s living room
When: Sunday, August 25th at 7:45 pm (according to the clock behind them)

Ha! We saw a preying mantis last week too but I didn't have my camera or phone on me at the time. Must be the season. They are so cool. Looks like a week packed full of visitors which is always fun. Love the idea of a father's blessing before starting the school year--very special and a great tradition to carry on.

I have never seen a praying mantis in person - that is a great shot. I love following along with your weeks :) I am cracking up about the nasty moustache - I feel the same way about them!!
