Project Life Tuesday ~ Week 51

IMG_8420 Monday ~ We wanted to try some different types of chicken gravy for the Hawaiian haystacks we’re having at the party this Saturday.  We had a blind taste test of 7 different brands.  It was funny to see how different the colors and flavors are for the same type of gravy.

Tuesday ~ Dad brought these balloons over to Autumn this morning.  It was a girl’s sweet 16 & her Mom brought balloons to seminary.  There were too many for the girl to fit in her car, so she was giving some away.  Dad brought them over to us and sang to Autumn, “Happy birthday in a month minus one day to you, happy birthday…etc.”  Autumn  loved it!

Wednesday ~ Tonight for our YW activity we went to the $1 Store & they all got a name of another girl and $1.  They got that girl a gift and then we went over to the Christmas Tree so they could exchange gifts.  It was like 70 degrees outside, which is so warm for the end of December!  Then we went and got free hot chocolate at the new Race Trac gas station.

Thursday ~ We met up w/ Liz & Lib & Jacob tonight for free hot chocolate.  Then we came back to our house to play the Kinect Adventure game.  I need to have them over more often.  They are such great friends!

Friday ~ 12/21/12 is the last day of the Mayan calendar, but it wasn’t the end of the world like some people thought.  It was our last day of 12 days of Christmas presents to Autumn’s teacher, so I had Autumn write her this thank you note.  Autumn’s handwriting has improved so much since school started.

Saturday ~ We got up early & went to see Caleb’s baptism.  It was really nice & when it was over we rushed home to get ready for our Mele Kalikimaka Johnson party.  We had Hawaiian haystacks & exchanged gifts & did white elephant & Santa even stopped by!

Sunday ~ I found a great deal online for a Malibu Beachfront house for Christmas.  I read online that it takes about 1.5 hours to put together.  Lexie & I went out in the shed at 10:30 & got done at 2:00 am!  We had fun & laughed & she LOVES using the power drill.

P1080892 I ordered the Olive Edition the day it was available on Amazon.com.  Online it showed that once it shipped I should get it between Tuesday or Thursday.  To my utter delight, it was on my doorstep Saturday night!!!  I may or may not have done a little happy jig right there on my front porch.  I wasn’t able to sit and enjoy it b/c I was leaving to chaperone a church youth dance.  But, as soon as I got home I did what I do w/ every new edition I get.

Project Life Olive Edition I laid all the title cards out on the floor to see what order I want to put them in my binder.  I try not to have two colors that are too similar together.  With this edition I made sure I didn’t have a floral and graphic card next to each other.  Then once I had the title cards the way I wanted them, I picked a filler card to go w/ the title card.  Then I picked which journaling cards I wanted to go w/ the title card and filler card.  Since the cards are double sided, I turned them over so I could see both sides to make sure they were the way I wanted them to be.

I started w/ the blue floral print then went to the green & grey chevron pattern, then the pink background w/ white and green leaves, etc.  I loved all of the designs except for the orange card in the bottom right hand corner.  It says “Recipe for” and has a spoon shape at the top of it.  I am not going to use that as a journaling card.  I’m just using the cool print on the other side as a filler card.  I am using 2 kiwi colored We R Memory Keeper binders for this year.

I was up WAY TOO LATE putting them all into my Design A pages, but it was worth it.  I’m all set for 2013 to just do my journaling, slip in my pictures and I’m done.  The simple joy  of Project Life!  Sunday morning before church I found Autumn looking through my 2012 binder and she was asking me questions about some of the pictures and it was so fun to relive those memories w/ her.  I am excited to see what memories 2013 will hold for us.

I am linked up over at The Mom Creative.

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY Y’ALL!!!

This sounds like such a fun week! What brand of gravy did you pick for the Hawaiian haystacks? That's a favorite of ours for Sunday night dinner over at my in-law's. :) I am amazed at how organized you are with your Olive edition cards! I'm taking notes for when I finally get started on my boys' baby books...
