We had a jam packed week w/ lots of outings and spending time w/ family & friends.
Monday ~ The big news for today was about Hurricane Sandy and how it was going to be hitting the East Coast. My heart just aches for those that are without power or water and it’s crazy to think that the city of New York is completely shut down due to the storm.
Tuesday ~ Rich, Cassie, Jennie & her girls came down to visit, so we all met up at Trail Dust to see them and eat dinner. I bought ties at Goodwill during my lunch break so the kids could wear them and have their ties cut. It was a blast and I’m glad we got to carry on this tradition of meeting up at Trail Dust from last year. We’ll have to start making this an annual thing.
Wednesday ~ HAPPY HALLOWEEN! This is the 1st year Autumn went trick-or-treating. We met up w/ some friends from church for dinner and then went out w/ them. It was SO MUCH FUN & I’m glad Autumn had kids her age to run around with. She was the most beautiful Princess Tiana that ever was.
Thursday ~ We don’t get much of a “fall time” here in Texas, so we take whatever fall colors we can get. These huge gorgeous trees are on our ride home, so we had to stop and get a picture of the bright yellow, orange, and red colors. So pretty!
Friday ~ The girls wanted to take me out for a belated birthday celebration. We went to Cheesecake Factory and I got my favorite avocado eggrolls w/ dipping sauce. Mary introduced us to their caramel sauce and it is DIVINE! The girls bought me my very own jar of the spectacular sauce to take home. After we ate, we went to Christine’s to watch The Count of Monte Cristo, which is one of my top 5 favorite movies. I just adore these ladies so much and appreciate them for making me feel so special & loved.
Saturday ~ Today we got up and went around the house taking lots of pictures w/ Splash since Autumn is student of the week. Then we went to McDonald’s so we could use their free internet (we don’t have the internet at home) to upload the pics to WalMart to have them printed off. It took FOREVER to upload just 13 pics. Then we ran some errands and went and picked them up and put together 2 pages about Splash and a big poster board about Autumn.
Sunday ~ Mom is trying to help encourage Autumn to read. So, she bought this cute glass hanging that says “Autumn” on it. She put 15 numbered pieces of tape on the back of it and every time Autumn reads a book, she gets to take off a piece of tape. Once all the pieces of tape are gone, Autumn earns the prize and gets to take it home. Pretty ingenious if you ask me!
Usually all of my journaling cards for a week match, but I won a giveaway from Elle’s Studio for their Spooky Tales line a while ago, and I’ve been saving this card for Halloween. I’m glad that it doesn’t match, b/c it really stands out and helps me notice that something special happened on this day of the week. The purple “Happy Halloween” tag is from a bag of plastic spiders I bought from the $1 store that I cut off and put in the slot w/ the journaling card.
Also, you’ll notice the cards on the left hand side of the page don’t match the cards on the right hand side of the page. This far into the year, I ran out of cards that are all the same for each week. So, I just use 3 matching ones on the left hand side and 4 coordinating ones on the right hand side. It works for me b/c the page still looks clean and crisp, which is how I like my pages to be.
